Discover the DUNSRight® Difference

DUNSRight is D&B’s patented process for ensuring quality information. This process encompasses five quality drivers – Global Data Collection, Entity Matching, D-U-N-S Number, Corporate Linkage and Predictive Indicators – that work sequentially to aggregate, standardise and enrich information. The foundation of DUNSRight is Quality Assurance which includes over 2,000 separate automated and manual checks.

We define quality using ACT+C. Through our DUNSRight process, we ensure that our information is Accurate, Complete, Timely + Cross-Border Consistent so agencies can make confident decisions.

Global Data Collection

Global Data Collection aggregates data from thousands of sources to provide superior breadth and depth of business information – creating the world’s largest and most comprehensive business information database. D&B’s database is the definitive source of identification and verification on over 115 million businesses from more than 200 countries. Our global database includes large publicly traded companies to small privately held businesses as well as sole proprietorships.

Entity Matching

Entity Matching is D&B’s patented method for matching your information against our global database. This process allows for and corrects variations in spelling (e.g. IBM vs. International Business Machines), formats, trade names and addresses, and executives data from disparate sources (e.g. a local business license, a central 10K filing, and a Yellow Pages listing) with the appropriate D&B record. D&B then produces a single, more accurate picture of each business.

D-U-N-S Number®

The D-U-N-S Number is D&B’s unique, nine-digit, location-specific identifier, which D&B assigns as a means of identifying and tracking companies globally throughout their lifecycle. Once assigned, a D-U-N-S Number is neither reused nor assigned to another business. Used by the world's most influential standards-setting organisations, the D-U-N-S Number is recognised, recommended and/or required by more than 50 global, industry and trade associations, including the U.N, the European Commission and the U.S. central Government, where it is used by the General Services Administration, U.S. Postal Service and Department of Education, among others.

Corporate Linkage

Corporate Linkage uses the D-U-N-S Number to link members to their corporate families. Corporate Linkage enables D&B customers to view their total risk or opportunity across related businesses. D&B’s global business database has more corporate families than any other data provider worldwide, with over 1.7 million families and 8.7 million family members. There is no limit to the breadth or depth of a corporate family.

Predictive Indicators

Predictive Indicators use statistical analysis to rate a business' past performance and to indicate how likely the business is to perform that same way in the future. Predictive Indicators leverage the analytical capabilities of experienced PhDs to build predictive models with unique D&B data capabilities, including industry-specific knowledge, financial and payment information on numerous private companies and extensive historical information for modeling and trend analysis purposes.
