"I joined D&B in September 2006 as a Revenue Analyst. That means I’m mainly responsible for revenue recognition on all our orders that come through above a certain value. Revenue recognition has four main principles in American accounting procedures and, as we’re a US company, we have to comply with American audit regulations.

There are seven of us in the Revenue team and we’re all from different cultural backgrounds. That helped me a lot when I first started, because it meant it was really easy for me to fit into the team.

I soon realised there were lots of internal courses I could attend to help my professional development. For example, I went on the Revenue Recognition training seminar which outlined all the key areas I have to deal with day-to-day in my job. It also gave me some good, in-depth examples of how to treat different revenue recognition situations. That part of the course was invaluable, as I can now tackle the harder cases much more easily.

My goal is to become an accountant and, next year, I’m starting my CIMA studies and the company will be funding the full cost of this course. I really value the fact that D&B are 100% behind supporting our personal growth and career development."
